Schedule your roof cleaning today!

If you're a homeowner in Nottingham, you’ve likely noticed how quickly roofs can become streaked with moss, algae and built-up debris. With changing weather and damp conditions, roof tiles are exposed to elements that gradually wear them down. If left untreated, an ageing roof can result in expensive repairs. Professional roof cleaning helps prevent that by keeping your property protected and presentable before problems begin.

Zed Roof Cleaning specialises in non-destructive, soft-wash roof cleaning services in Nottingham. We never use pressure washers, which can harm tiles and cause long-term damage to your roof structure. Our safe and effective approach removes harmful dirt, moss and biological growth while preserving the integrity of your roof surface. Whether your home is surrounded by trees or the roof hasn’t been cleaned in years, our team is fully equipped to get it back in shape.

Using pressure washers on roofing may seem like a time-saver, but it can actually shorten the life of your tiles, strip away surface coating and drive moisture through joints. Our roof cleaning methods are designed to do the opposite—clean your roof safely while preserving its strength.

Our soft washing and low-pressure steam cleaning systems help:
- Prevent cracked, lifted or broken tiles
- Maintain the surface finish of the tile coating
- Prolong the life of your roof by reducing water damage risk
- Improve kerb appeal and visual condition of the home

Roof cleaning is not just a visual fix. One Nottingham homeowner reached out to us thinking her roof was leaking. On inspection, we found water infiltration caused by excessive moss pushing rainfall between joints. After a full clean and reseal, the issue was resolved—without any structural replacements.

Moss and algae trap moisture against roof tiles, accelerating decay in mortar, underlayment and tile material. In as little as one season, moss can spread across gaps and lift tiles at the edges, leading to loose or cracked areas and the risk of leaks.

We remove roof moss by hand and with soft-treatment techniques, always ensuring the tile surface remains undamaged. After cleaning, a specialist anti-fungal treatment is applied across the roof to halt new growth. For properties with dense tree cover or persistent moisture, this preventative step makes a major difference in slowing re-growth.

If you’ve noticed moss returning more often, or areas that never fully dry after rainfall, it’s time to have them checked and treated.

Blocked gutters are one of the most common causes of hidden roof damage. Water that cannot drain off your roof properly can start pooling in corners, under the tiles or along the wall line, leading to internal damp and brickwork erosion.

Our team at Zed Roof Cleaning safely clears moss, leaves and dirt from all roof drainage points and downpipes, testing the full drainage flow during every visit. Many homeowners in Nottingham only notice their gutters aren't working during heavy rainfall. If your property is in a leafy area or your gutters haven’t been checked in a while, we recommend inspection as part of your overall roof maintenance.

A sound roof is key to preventing water damage and protecting your home’s structure. Small issues such as cracked tiles, loose ridge caps or broken seals may look minor but can quickly weaken the section beneath your roof surface.

We carry out repairs by carefully removing damaged tiles, checking the lapping below and fitting matching replacements. This ensures consistency and strength without compromising your home’s appearance. Whether it’s a full roofline repair or a few loose ridge caps, we aim to restore both function and appearance of every section.

After a clean and inspection, older roofs often benefit from a waterproof coating. Our specialist roof coatings are breathable, UV-resistant and fungicidal. For homes with previously porous tiles, this step seals the surface and extends tile lifespan.

We apply two coats as part of our restoration process. Clear finishes are ideal if you want to preserve the look of your tiles. Colour options are available to completely change or refresh your home’s exterior. Either way, a finished roof repels moisture more effectively and significantly reduces moss growth.
