What does a professional roof cleaning team actually do across a typical job? Here’s a look behind the scenes at a February project in Nottingham — from the first look at the roof to the final waterproof coat.
Assessment first, always
Every job starts with the roof itself: the tile type, its age, how far the moss has spread and whether any tiles need replacing. Cleaning without this assessment is how tiles get damaged — with it, the method is matched safely to your roof.
The deep clean
The entire roof is cleaned — including the gutters — to remove all dirt, moss, lichen and algae. Broken or suspect tiles are replaced with new, matching tiles as we go, so the roof is sound before the protection goes on.
Treatment and coating
Once the roof is clean and dry, the anti-fungal treatment kills the micro roots left behind by the moss. Finally, two coats of 100% acrylic, fungicidal waterproof coating seal the surface — clear to preserve the tile colour, or a colour finish to refresh the whole appearance.
Tidy up, then show you
We protect the garden before we start, gather up all the debris, and take it away with us. Before we leave we walk you through the work — and take photos so you can see the difference.
